Macklin: 1 Month Old

Dear Macklin,

Well hello there, handsome little dude. You're a month old! And how you've chunked up. Your little chicken legs have developed some baby chub, and you're just about out of newborn diapers - once this package runs out, we're onto size ones! At your one month doctor's appointment, you weighed in at 10 lbs, 10 oz - a 2 lb, 7 oz increase in one month. My little chunk.

The first month of your life has been utterly fantastic, helped out majorly in pet by your Grammie, who visited from Ottawa for 10 days and held you so much that I think her arm developed a little Macklin-sized crook. You've stolen her heart, and that's a good thing - Mama is praying it means more visits from out east!

You're a pretty easygoing stink bug so far: you mostly eat, nap, look around with wonder (you especially like staring at lights), and poop. Every. Single. Diaper. Is. Poopy.

There is no doubt that you're a Liboiron.

Not only does the poop confirm it, the farts - oh, the farts! Hence the nickname Stink Bug. Your roots are wildly adult-like: loud and powerful! Lexi will look at you and exclaim, "baby tooted! He so funny!" You put Daddy to shame with those toots of yours.

The first month of your life has been made especially wonderful by your three-hour stretches of sleep at night. Amazing! Wonderful! I pray that you keep it up - Mama can survive on those three hour stretches. There have been a few trying nights, but your big sister helped carve a good path for you - Mama knows we'll come out of the first three months alive. And we're already a third of the way there.

The best part of this month has been seeing how your big sister falls more and more in love with you every single day. She loves tickling your tiny (or, well, not-so-tiny) feet, and she loves saying "he so funny!" She's a little bit rough with you sometimes, squeezing your head just a little too tight when she hugs you, but how can you blame her? You're adorable!

We're so blessed to have you in our lives, Big Mack (or as Lexi says, Tiny Mack). Month 1 has been a whirlwind, a huge transition, and overall, incredibly wonderful.

I love you!

Love,

Mama
